B-Parts Now Provides CO₂ Savings Report for Used Car Parts

The Portuguese company B-Parts, in 2020 acquired by Stellantis, partners with Eco Repair Score to assess the environmental impact of its used parts stock and reinforce its commitment to sustainability.

B-Parts, the European leader in e-commerce for used car parts, has established a partnership with Eco Repair Score, a pioneering entity in calculating CO₂ savings from the use of used parts in vehicle repairs. Through this partnership, it will now provide a report that confirms the CO₂ savings associated with parts purchased on its platform. The report can be provided to insurance companies, fleet management companies, or other B2B customers who wish to better understand the CO₂ savings resulting from purchasing a used car part from B-Parts.

By integrating Eco Repair Score into our platform, we not only reinforce our commitment to sustainability, but also add value to the purchasing experience and support companies in achieving their ESG goals," says Manuel Araújo Monteiro, administrator of B-Parts. 

Using a methodology based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), developed by VITO – a leading organization in technological research – the system enables a rigorous comparison between used and new parts, considering the impact generated during production, packaging, transport, and recycling. It serves as an environmental rating, specifically designed for the automotive sector. 

With more than one million parts sold to date, B-Parts' activities have already contributed to avoiding the emission of around 60,000 tons of CO₂ – equivalent to approximately 190,000 car trips between Porto and London. On average, each reused part represents a reduction of over 50% in emissions compared to its new alternative. The economic savings generated for customers exceed 50 million euros, with reductions ranging between 50% and 70% per part.
